Keith Taylor
Keith Taylor became one of the Green Party's Principal Speakers in August 2004.
"In the 2005 general election Keith Taylor achieved the Green Party's highest-ever vote in a Westminster election, with 22%". He has been instrumental in making Brighton one of the strongest local authority Green group in Britain (along with Lancaster and Oxford.
With Keith Taylor as convenor (leader) of their council group, Brighton Greens are seen as one of the most go-ahead local Green Parties in the country. They doubled their number of seats on Brighton council from threeto six in 2003 - despite a reduction in councillor numbers from 78 to 54 dueto boundary changes. (This meant an increase from 3.8% to 11% of the councilseats overnight). An the recent Euro-elections the Greens moved into secondplace with 20% of the city-wide vote, pushing Labour into third place.
Cllr Keith Taylor was born on 1 August 1953 in Southend, Essex. He has livedin Brighton for 28 years, a former local businessman who took to communityactivism opposing an inappropriate local development before joining theGreen Party and becoming a councillor.
