Ashley Gunstock
Ashley has stood as the Green Party candidate for Parliament in Leyton and Wanstead, for the GLA in Havering & Redbridge and for Redbridge Council in the ward of Wanstead, seeing his vote rise by 50% in the area.
Married with a son of 9 years, Ashley is a theatrical Producer, Artistic Director and an actor of 30 years experience. An original cast member of the Bill he has appeared in many television, film & theatrical productions. He has his own theatre company and toured the UK three times.
Ashley is also an English teacher and qualified Football Association Coach whose interests include art, literature and sport.
Now in his twentieth year as a GP activist Ashley is GP Leading Spokesperson in Redbridge and well known for his community presence and help for local residents. He is a committee member of: Fairtrade Redbridge, about to receive its accreditation; LA21 and FoE groups, with whom he influenced borough recycling and planning improvements and peace, anti-war & anti-fascist movements which seek his Green Party endorsement.
Before moving to Redbridge he lived in Barnet where he remains Chair of the Barnet Green Co-op Ltd, having been largely responsible for setting up The Green Room Environmental Centre and was also active on the Homeless Action in Barnet committee - which oversaw the building of a day centre for the homeless.
Ashley was instrumental in ensuring that the Council, TfL and The Corporation of London implemented much needed road traffic safety measures (especially for the elderly and school children) and has established the 'Tube re-zoning' campaign to make travel on the London Underground more affordable.
Ashley says: "I am particularly concerned about planning issues and how they affect the lives of local residents in terms of crime, transport, education, waste reduction and building developments - including phone masts."
