Green party

Bob Steel

Chair of London's largest Green party by geographical area, Bob has reached 25 years as a member of the party and this is his fourth general election campaign as candidate.

Bob studied at Southampton & Nottingham Universities before returning to London to work as a geography teacher for most of his career. He helped set up the Sutton green party in 1980 and was very active in the peace movement throughout the eighties.

A very keen cyclist and hill-walker, Bob has an intimate knowledge of UK upland regions and has led dozens of school walking parties at home and abroad.

He practices what he preaches and, as well as not owning a car, he grows a proportion of his own food on his allotment.

He has written for groups as diverse as the London Wildlife Trust and the Campaign for Real Ale, for whom he is researching a booklet on Good Beer Guide walks. In his spare time he leads guided walks around historic London pubs.
