Green launch climate change manifesto

Today, a top panel of Greens will discuss with journalists why theenvironment has not been on the election agenda, as they launch theirclimate change mini-manifesto, and reveal their new election poster, at apress conference in central London.
Green MEP Caroline Lucas, who will share a platform with Darren Johnson AMand Green climate change scientist Paul Miller, will reveal the flaws in themain three parties environmental manifestos. Dr Lucas comments: "TheGovernment's own scientific adviser has said that climate change is a biggerthreat than terrorism, yet it has been entirely absent from the Westminsterparties' campaigns, because their policies and theirrecords in office actively contribute to the problem."
"The Big-Business driven Westminster parties may tinker round the edges,they do not have the political will toring the Real changes needed to tackle climate change.
"Greens are radical, independent and principled enough to bring about realchange. The message issimple: if you want to preserve the planet for future generations, voteGreen."
Green manifesto
The 7 Green climate change measures set out in the mini manifesto are:
1) Target: 90% CO2 emissions reductions by 2050, 20% by 20102) Trade: a shift from the global to the local3) Taxes: introduce a range of eco taxes (including carbon tax, aviationfuel tax, plastic bag tax)4) Renewables: 40% of energy from renewables by 20205) Home energy conservation: 30% reduction in home energy demand by 20156) Local authority emissions reductions: 45% by 20207) Transport: 10% reduction in road transport by 2010
