The Green Party's conference at the famous and historic Blackpool Winter Gardens, 20-23 March 2009, will feature:

  • An emergency programme of economic reconstruction: to take into the next general election "a programme of industrial restructuring of wartime proportions."
  • Zero-carbon economy - can UK kick the fossil-fuels habit by 2030?
  • Women in business - should the government require that 40% of the directors of every UK company should be women?
  • Re-shaping the global financial architecture: should international reserve currencies be replaced by a neutral currency linked to carbon?
  • Improving rights for migrants throughout the EU, and extending the right to asylum.
  • Maternity services: for a wider range of birth options and the best possible maternity care, all on the NHS.
  • Domestic abuse: addressing the roots of the problem, with "respect" training in all schools.
