Privatising fire brigade training is 'reckless'
Responding to plans to privatise the fire brigade's training operation that were passed at the London Fire Authority meeting today, Green Party London Assembly member Darren Johnson said:
"We have all heard far too many horror stories of costly privatisations that go wrong and I fear outsourcing such an important part of the fire brigade could provide another.
"That is why I voted against this reckless privatisation plan today. We do need to invest in new training facilities for the London Fire Brigade but this could be achieved in-house. However, this option was not given serious consideration by Conservative members."
