John Hunt
John Hunt grew up in Hillingdon. After gaining a Ph.D. in computing, he worked in Switzerland for six years. Since 1987 he has lived in Hounslow. John has been employed, unemployed, and self-employed. After upsetting experiences of family and friends in hospital, he went on to retrain and qualify as a nurse.
John began campaigning for a better society while still at primary school. He has campaigned on equality issues for 30 years, on health for 20, and on the environment for 15 years. In 2005 he became Green Party candidate for Brentford and Isleworth. He continues to campaign.
Aviation, Health, Bees, and our Ecosystem
For many years, John has been concerned about the health effects of aviation. He has:
- run a project with schools on air quality around Heathrow
- submitted reports to public enquiries
- written to Cabinet ministers
- protested with residents
- been arrested at the 2007 Climate Camp.
John is also deeply concerned about our disappearing wildlife. The Red List of endangered species now includes 1305 land animals in Europe. In the UK, honeybees could disappear by 2018. This threatens harvests of the crops they pollinate. It also threatens all species which depend on them.
