Miranda Dunn
Miranda was born in Putney in 1962. She went to acting school and spent some
years working as a fringe actress. She studied with the Open University before transferring to University College London to complete her degree in Modern History. Dissatisfied with the 'education treadmill' teachers have to endure, she is now a full time political activist and housewife.
Miranda has an allotment and lives in Finchley with her husband, teenage son and two cats. She enjoys cooking, painting and organic gardening. She joined Barnet Green Party in 1990.
An active campaigner
Miranda has taken part in occupations of incinerators and a nuclear power station and believes in direct action. She has an unstoppable urge to be engaged in Green Politics because of the state of the Planet. Miranda now focuses her campaigning on protecting trees and green spaces in Barnet and Camden.
Recent campaigns Miranda has been working on include:
- defending local post offices and the rights of postal workers
- supporting organic farming with free-range livestock
- promoting allotments
- saving street trees
- protecting front gardens from being paved and back gardens from developers
- protecting services for those with mental health issues
- opposing the loss of GPs' surgeries in Barnet & Camden to make way for New Labour's 'Polyclinics' which take capital from the local community and make the vulnerable less independent.
