Opportunities in Green Party Head Office

Head of Tech

Job Description: We are looking for a skilled team leader who is able to manage competing demands with never quite enough capacity to do all that our ambitions would have us deliver.

You will inherit the Green Party’s systems where, although transformation is in progress, there is still much work to do in reducing the number of legacy solutions we have in place. We believe the development of our technology and digital systems is critical to reaching the goals set out in our ambitious Political Strategy. We will want you to work with other teams and membersto understand their needs and help them deliver them. We know tech has the potential to transform the way we approach political organising.

You will also be responsible for oversight of the Party’s IT infrastructure, website infrastructure, support ticket system and compliance. You will manage our small tech team to deliver across all these functions, along with some opportunities tobring in external support.

Whilst there is a high level of interest in and expectation for what Tech can deliver you will be contributing to the growth in impact of the Green Party of England Walesand part of a supportive senior team for the Party staff.

Salary: £45,845 to £58,143 per annum

Hours: Full time 35 hours per week

Location: Hybrid: attending London office (N7) at least one day a week

Contract type: Permanent

Wales Field Organiser

Job Description: The Green Party’s Field Team is responsible for building and supporting local Green Parties to recruit volunteers, get organised and win election campaigns. Under the team’s leadership, the Green Party has overseen a huge increase in our election gains in the last few years, more than tripling the number of Green Councillors since the start of 2019. In Wales, May 2022 saw our breakthrough. For the first time, we have Councillors across Wales and a firmer footing for progress towards our goals of elected Senedd Members in 2026 and then big growth in our number of Councillors the year after. Field Organisers are part of a high performing team within the Green Party that is having a transformational impact on the work of our local parties. As a Field Organiseryou will be joining a growing and dynamic team, who have ambitious plans for the coming years to get more Greens elected. In Wales, the new Field Organiser will have a very strong focus on building local parties, helping show the way to involve new activists as we grow towards the next round of elections. You will be a natural relationship builder, assisting local parties to the point that they actively seek your advice on growing their party and their campaigns. You will be passionate about elections and people in order to succeed in this role. You will be strongly motivated by investing in others in order to help them achieve their goals.

Salary: £26,859 to £30,853FTE [points 10-17 on the Green Party salary scale]

Hours: 3 days a week–some work will be outside of the core hours of 9:30 to 17:00 Monday to Friday according to the needs of volunteers. Wednesday mornings are an essential part of part time hours.

Location: Home based, with regular travel to parties in Wales

Line Manager: Head of Elections & Field Operations

Line management responsibilities: Responsible for small number of local party support officers or campaign organisers in some local parties, where GPEW is the employer of the staff member, these roles can be on fixed term basis or a permanent basis, but more likely to be fixed term in the first instance.

Key relationships: 

Staff: Head of Elections, Local Elections Manager, Activism Manager, General Election Constituencies Manager, Field Staff in England and Wales.

Volunteers: Local party officers and campaign teams; Wales Green Party Council and committees.
