Opportunities in Green Party Head Office

Financial Controller

Purpose of the role: As part of our Finance Team, the Financial Controller will be responsible for ensuring that all transactions are promptly and accurately recorded in our accounting software. This key person will also lead the processes for ensuring that all statutory submissions are made accurately and on time to the relevant regulator, including collecting and consolidating the financial returns from our 280 local party voluntary treasurers. We need a meticulous accountant who is familiar with meeting statutory filing deadlines and dedicated to providing an excellent finance service to the rest of the organisation

Salary: £34,749 - £39,916 per annum, pro rata [Points 25 to 32 on the GPEW salary scale]

Hours: 35 hours per week standard, but we would be happy to consider applications from people who would prefer to work part-time.

Job type: Permanent

Location: UK. If not based in our central London office, must be willing and able to attend meetings there at least once a month.

Line manager: Head of Finance

Line management responsibilities: None

Key relationships: Budget Managers; HR Manager; Green Party Treasurer; local Green Party Accounting Unit Treasurers; all paid staff.

London Communications Manager

Purpose of the role: The Green Party is going places, a rising movement responding to the great political challenges of our age. Nowhere is this more so than London, where our candidate for London Mayor in 2021 is Green Party co-leader Siân Berry. As Communications Manager for the Green Party’s campaign for the 2021 London Mayor and Assembly elections, you’d be at the heart of this political change, helping shape, direct and execute the campaign’s press and communications strategies day to day. The Communications Manager will promote a positive image of the Party, the candidate for Mayor and other Assembly candidates in line with these strategies. The successful candidate will thrive in fast-paced environments, be flexible, quick-thinking, decisive, and have good political antennae. You will write like a dream, manage competing priorities calmly, have excellent interpersonal, organisational and communications skills, all while being intrinsically motivated by environmental and social justice.

Salary: £34,749 to £36,876 p.a. (points 25 – 28 on the GPEW pay scale)

Hours: Full time – 35 hours per week

Contract: Fixed term contract until 14 May 2021.

Location: Primarily working from home, although there may be opportunity to work from the Green Party National Office, or other office within the M25. Some travel to London locations will be required.

Line management responsibilities: Not applicable

Field Organiser Eastern Region

The Green Party’s Field Team are responsible for building and supporting local Green Parties to organise and win election campaigns. Working closely alongside volunteers on the ground, the Field Team have led a dramatic increase in the Green Party’s election gains in the last few years.

Field Organisers have overall responsibility for improving the capacity of local parties to fight and win elections using the party’s Target to Win strategy. This includes providing training, guidance and advice on recruiting volunteers, building teams, and planning and executing election campaigns.

Salary: £23,853 to £29,658, pro rata [points 6-17 on the Green Party salary scale]

Hours: 28 hours per week (4 days). Some work will be outside of core hours (weekdays 09:30 to 17:00) according to the needs of volunteers. This may include a Saturday and/or Sunday once per month on average.

Job type: Permanent

Location: Home based. Travel to local parties in the East of England as and when possible.

Line manager: Senior Field Organiser

Line management responsibilities: None

Key relationships: Staff: Head of Elections, Activism Manager, Field Organisers in England and Wales. Volunteers: Local party officers and campaign teams; Eastern Region Green Party committee.
