Greens respond to proposals on social care and disabled

13 November 2009

The government's Social Care Green Paper (link here) will be one of the most radical shakeups in the welfare state for years.

It affects primarily people over 65, but also potentially impacts on the care needs of disabled people of working age.

The Green Party's response to the proposals is based on our party's strong principles of social justice, including support for the social model of disability. It is also based in our opposition to the marginalisation, both financial and psychological, of vulnerable groups in society.

You can read the response, co-authored by Alan Wheatley and Joseph Healy, here. You can browse other reports (such as recent ones on nuclear power and a Green Deal for the NHS) in our reports section.
