Green Party Pledge Support for Biggest Housing Rally in a Generation

17 March 2015

The biggest housing rally in a generation is set to take place later today in Westminster, London. Organised by Homes for Britain, the rally will call for 'an end to the housing crisis within a generation'.

The Green Party, who will be represented at the rally by Caroline Lucas, Green MP for Brighton Pavilion, is calling for greater government commitment to end our housing crisis, and pledges to build 500,000 new social rented homes by 2020.

Tom Chance, Green Party Spokesperson for Housing, said:

"Today's rally shows the huge appetite for some radical solutions to our housing crisis, which has been forty years in the making. Only the Green Party has committed to building half a million new social rented homes over the next Parliament, along with much more security for private tenants and an end to discrimination against single homeless people. Greens want Homes for Britain that are affordable, comfortable and secure."
