Green Party statement on 10th anniversary of 7/7 bombings

7 July 2015

Green Party equalities spokesperson Benali Hamdache said:

"On the 10th anniversary of 7/7 it's important to take time and remember those who were lost. Ten years ago four men committed a heinous and loathsome attack designed to shatter apart our country and drive fear and hatred into the heart of every Londoner.

"Everyone remembers where they were on that day, the memory is etched upon Britain's psyche. For the thousands directly impacted in the attacks the physical and psychological effects live on.

"The clearest rejection of those attacks is to stand together as a country. These attacks were designed to sow disharmony and disunity, marginalise communities and drive more recruits from the fallout. The walk together campaign is a brilliant example of rejecting that extremism.

"Today we all walk together mourning those we lost, in gratitude to the emergency services and still in support of those who still live with the impacts of those attacks today."
