‘The not so secret life of 5 year old politicians’, the Green Party’s daring, genre-busting Party Election Broadcast, has proved a record-breaking hit online.

Released just over a week ago online, the broadcast, which was created by Creature of London for the Green Party, has received rave reviews (1) and streaked to over five million views (2).

The broadcast has been released ahead of the May 5 elections. The Green Party officially launched their local elections campaign today at 10.00 in Bristol (3).

‘Secret Life’ has quickly become comfortably the 2016 election campaign’s most viewed Party Election Broadcast on YouTube. The launch saw the Green Party trend in the UK on micro-blogging website Twitter for much of the afternoon on 6 April.

The broadcast positions the Green Party as the only true alternative to the establishment parties, who offer more of the same childish Punch and Judy politics.

In the broadcast, child actors playing British politicians are shown squabbling and infighting in amusing ‘playground politics’ scenarios. In one scene, Tory leadership hopeful Boris Johnson is seen lording it over his rivals from the top of the climbing frame and promising to flush Chancellor George Osborne’s “long term-economic plan” down the toilet. In another comical scene, front-benchers trade petty insults at a raucous Prime Minister’s Questions in the school gym.

The film was directed by Neil Harris via Smuggler London Limited, on behalf of Creature of London, who created the film, their third for the Green Party. ‘Change the Tune’ , the Greens’ boy band spoof video (4) also went viral on the internet.

The Green Party is standing over 1,500 candidates in the May 5 local elections.

The broadcast next airs on television on 27 April on ITV at 18.25.
