REACTING to the Hillsborough verdict, Shahrar Ali, Green Party Deputy Leader and Home Affairs spokesperson, said:
“The path to truth is rarely easy and the road travelled by the Hillsborough Disaster families has been too long. Their 27-year ordeal to unearth the truth was made all the more intolerable by people in authority who should have known better than to attempt concealment and cover up.
“Those in authority who intended for them to fail must be brought to book. The families' fight for justice and accountability goes on and they have the full backing of the Green Party. They are an inspiration to us all."
Tom Crone, the Green Party’s Liverpool Mayoral candidate, added:
“After 27 years Liverpool fans have finally been exonerated of any blame for the terrible tragedy of Hillsborough.
“It has been a long battle to achieve this result and we pay tribute to the determination and dedication of the families of the 96 and everyone else who has campaigned for justice."
