Natalie Bennett: Government 'must stop passing the buck' on social care funding

13 July 2016

Responding to today's news that care services face serious cuts this year, Green Party leader Natalie Bennett said:

“Today’s news shows once again the devastating impact of local government cuts on vital services.

“It is unconscionable in a humane society that essential services for some of the most vulnerable people in our communities are on the front line of the government’s reckless and ideologically driven austerity cuts. Once again, the most vulnerable in our society are being forced to pay the price for the mistakes and fraud of the bankers.

“It is time for the government to stop passing the buck to local authorities and commit to fully funding social care."
