Polish-born Green Party activist condemns attacks on EU nationals after Brexit

13 July 2016

MICHAL Chantkowski, a Polish born UK citizen and Policy Officer for the Sunderland Green Party, has condemned the rise of attacks on EU nationals born outside the UK since the referendum result.

Michal has released a statement as the Green Party has launched a reduced membership scheme for migrants and non British born EU nationals who seek to join the party.

Chantkowski states:

'We call on all democratic forces in this country to clearly and vocally express their condemnation of racism, discrimination and xenophobia.

"These events have their roots in the continuous pandering to fears, prejudice and misinformation, undertaken by certain segments of our political class.

"The Green Party of England and Wales have never, and will never, join this festival of blame.

"Our values are those of openness, acceptance of different cultures and tolerance.

"We value the huge cultural and economic contribution migrants have made to society.

"We would like to ensure EU nationals living in this country that our elected representatives and local Green Parties will do everything to make sure migrants are safe and respected."
