Ballots close in Green Party leadership race with record turnout

Ballots have closed in the elections for Green Party leader and deputy leader with a record of 34.3% of members casting their votes. (1)

Including job-shares, there are seven candidates standing in the leadership election, the result of which will be announced at the Party’s autumn conference on the 2nd September. (2)

Speaking on her decision to stand down after four years as leader, Natalie Bennett said: 

“It's been a privilege and a honour to have the title ‘leader of the Green Party’, but every member of the Green Party is a leader, helping to lead the way towards a society in which we live within our environmental limits while ensuring no one fears hunger or want.”
