David Cameron’s special adviser pay rises branded ‘disgraceful’ by Greens

30 August 2016

The Green Party’s representative in the House of Lords has accused David Cameron of “endless cronyism” after it was revealed he gave special advisers pay rises of as much as £18,000.

Some advisers saw pay go up by as much as 24%, analysis by Civil Service World has shown [1].

Baroness Jones of Mouslecoomb, the Green Party's representative in the House of Lords, said: “It is disgraceful that David Cameron dished out double-digit pay rises to his special advisers while workers in the public sector saw earnings frozen in the name of austerity.

“The former Prime Minister should have been using taxpayers’ money to care for the people running our schools, hospitals and public services – not looking after his mates. His cronyism appears to be endless.”
