Jonathan Bartley: Proposed dental tests on refugees are 'nothing short of a disgrace'

19 October 2016

Reacting to David Davies’ suggestion that tests on teeth should be used to verify the age of child refugees, Jonathan Bartley, co-leader of the Green Party, said:

“These comments are nothing short of a disgrace and another example of the increasingly hostile environment being faced by those fleeing war and persecution.

“The proposed mandatory dental tests are both ineffective at finding out someone’s age and utterly unethical.

“Britain is better than this and Davies’ suggestion that people’s ‘well of hospitality’ towards refugees is running dry does a disservice to our democracy. The Green Party will always defend the rights of those who come here seeking safety."
