'Murky' National Trust vote disappointing say Greens

23 October 2017

Responding to the result of the vote [1] on a resolution to ban hunting on National Trust land, Keith Taylor MEP, the Green Party's animals spokesperson, said:

"The result is a huge disappointment and massive set back for animal protection in the UK. The murky circumstances around the, extremely close, vote and the use of 'discretionary' proxies are also concerning.

"Members are continuing to come forward [2], complaining that the trust neither informed them of the vote nor invited them to take part. These claims must be independently investigated."
