Green Party welcomes water refill plans and calls for bottle deposit scheme

25 January 2018

The Green Party has responded to news that water refill stations are set to be rolled out across the UK [1].

Jonathan Bartley, co-leader of the Green Party, said:

“Water refill networks will take us one step closer to tackling plastic waste. But for schemes like this to work they must be matched by bold action from the Government. There should be a refill station in every public space and public building, but crucially this must be rolled out alongside a national bottle deposit scheme.

“Britain uses 38.5million bottles each day. We have the chance to lead the world in tackling plastic pollution, but only if the Government actually steps up and takes full responsibility for tackling this crisis."
