Local elections - crime and community policing

27 May 2009

In the latest in a series of local election campaign videos, Matt Follett, Green Party councillor in Leicester, and one of the party's spokespeople on Home Affairs, talks about crime, the Green Party, and community policing.

Crime is down by 10% last year, but the fear of crime continues to rise. We need to stop young people getting into a cycle of criminal activity. The Greens want more "bobbies on the beat" - but what can be just as useful are officers that they can approach, that they know by sight, and know by name, for intelligence-led community policing.

You can read more about the Green Party's policies on crime prevention here.

The local and European elections will be on the 4th of June, 2009.
