Living wage victory at UCL

28 September 2010

University College London has agreed to pay its cleaners the London Living Wage in future contracts.

Green member of the London Assembly Darren Johnson spoke at the rally held at UCL earlier today.

He told those present:

"I congratulate UCL students and workers on their tremendous victory in getting UCL to pay the London Living Wage in all future contracts.

"However, those contracts should be renegotiated to start paying the London Living Wage now, not some time in the future. The Mayor should be taking action to encourage all the universities in London to adopt the London Living Wage."
